v3.3 Software Ready For Testing

If anyone wants to try v3.3 of the software, please let us know.

v3.3 includes support for more fonts (Times, Sans Serif, Courier and Prestige) and international character tables (US, International, Greek and Turkish).

There are some changes made to handling of the colour command (ESC r) as we came across one piece of equipment which uses unsupported values for the colour (instead of 0 to 6, it was supplying 114 !!). To overcome this, we are currently ANDing the passed value with 7 so 114 becomes 2 (cyan).

There are a couple of minor changes to handling of the print_uppercontrolcodes.

It looks as though we need to do some more work on the fonts.

However, latest changes to v3.3 include options to set the default typeface (font) and charset and the international fonts have now been tested and display correctly.

After testing we no longer AND the ESC R n command with 7 - it transpires that the company who produced the machine made an error in that for black, the software passes ESC R R 0 (repeats the R character).

We have also now implemented a timeout configuration option (which used to be passed as part of the command line).

The timeout defines a period time after which the Retro-Printer assumes a print job has finished if no characters have been received.

Nominally this has been set as 4 seconds (which works for most instances), however, we have now added this option, as some users want to be able to disable the timeout, so that the Retro-Printer acts as a log, simply printing out the page when the A4 page is full of data. To disable the timeout, set it to -1
