Retro-Printer with Atari 8 bit

Here is another 7zip containing hexdump, Raw, Actual print scan,pdf and a shareware program I mentioned previously trying.

This time I swapped out everything and used an Atari 800xl, Atari 850, different set of SIO Cables and a different parallel cable.

I also used some 70% alcohol and a tooth brush to clean the rosin from under the ic. I can no longer see anything under the chip with the naked eye.

The actual print was slightly different, i did not open the Atari 850 to see if there is a cr/lf jumper settings inside. So the 2 xx from my ICD P:R: connector are now a diamond shape.

OK, that is useful - it does look as though it is a hardware issue.

PM me your name and address and I will get a replacement Retro-Printer PCB off to you whilst Sascha also tests the settings.

Hello alltogether,

I have now setup my Atari 800xl with the Retroprinter with a SIO to parallel interface.
The combination seems to work correct, with a timout of 17 seconds.
So I think the same like Rich, it is a hardware bug on Venoms Retroprinter.

@Venom: Could you please have a look at those files and give a feedback if those are like to be expected?

Thank You very Much!! I assume adjusting top and bottom margins to 0 or near zero would allow the page to fit all on one sheet, and to simulate fan-fold printer paper?

Can you PM me your address and I will you the Retro-Printer and Centronix adapter Monday morning. I know shipping to E.U. has certain challenges. Do I need a Tarif code and how should I list the contents to prevent import taxes and delays?

Making some very good progress here.

My configurations settings for Atari 8bit are

Auto_Linefeed Yes or No depending on which Print adapter I am using.
Printer_Delay 17
Default_Margins No
Page_Size F-12

I think all other configuration settings were left at default.

If the output does not fit on one page as expected, you may also need to set EPSON_PINS to 9 - the ESC/P2 24 pin standard uses different units for things such as line spacing to the original 9 pin ESC/P standard

I changed the Epson_Pins to 9 and the output fits on one page now. Good to know, I assumed the 24 pins setting only related to print quality.
