Parallel Port output signal printet

Post by Alemoro84+ »

Hello members,
I need more information aboutthis device
I will try to explain my problem to you hoping you can understand and help me.
In my company, I have an automotive dyno power test stand from the German company MAHA.
model MAHA LPS2000
This instrumentation works in an industrial plc environment and is used to measure the torque and power test of vehicles.
An old epson LX300 printer is connected to the motherboard via the lpt1 port.
I would like to extrapolate the output signals from the parallel lpt1 port and send them as a pdf file. to be able to save it and print it with modern printers.
Is possible solve my problem?
Thanks!

Hi,

That is exactly what the Retro-Printer Module does. The actual module connects into the top of a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and acts as an interface between the Raspberry Pi (mini computer) and your machine; so that we can capture the data which was originally sent to a printer.

Our software then runs on the Raspberry Pi to emulate the printer hardware, interpreting the various commands which would have been sent to the printer laying out the page (for example printing in bold, or printing a graph).

The software uses these commands to create a PDF of the output as it would have appeared on the original Epson printer.

That PDF can then either just be stored, or automatically printed to a modern USB or network printer which is connected to the Raspberry Pi

At the moment, the v4 module is still not available.

The v3 module works perfectly well - it is just that you need a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B (or earlier) - not the Pi 3B+ or Pi 4
It also uses a chunky metal adaptor between the centronics cable and the Retro-Printer module!
