Serial Port Option

Post by RWAP »

Those of you who have seen the early case designs, might have noticed space for a further connector on the end of the Retro-Printer module opposite the LEDs and online switch.

The space is allocated for a 9 pin serial port connector, in response to requests received.

We will need to change the actual PCB for the Retro-Printer module in order to support serial input, so this will be a future development.

Just a quick update - the v3.4 software includes an undocumented serial port feature, allowing you to connect using a USB to serial port adaptor.

If you want to try this out, contact us :)

We are working with a couple of customers who need the serial port feature and have come across a couple of bugs, which we have now addressed.

Beyond that, the feature seems to be working well so far.
