RetroPrinter Support

Hiya

I have a Code Master CWR-610E, an old rtty/morse decoder that takes an audio output from shortwave receivers and displays the decoded messages as a text output on an analogue monitor.

It also has an interface port that supplies signals that can be connected to a centronics compatible printer (not on a centronics parallel printer connector, but individual pins that output the parallel data) .

Would the V3 interface be suitable for this?
The output is just a text stream. I have a raspberry pi model B available and just want to display the text on a screen and possibly print this. Nothing more advanced is required, so I don't need any advanced capabilities.

It all depends what signals it uses and how the signals are encoded. What information is available on the signal and printer you can use?

The Retro-Printer hardware converts those centronics pins to the gpio pins on the raspberry pi - so it depends if it uses similar signals or would need an adapter wiring. Even the the timing signals, ack, busy and handshake might be completely different so it is hard to say if it would work.

The manual for the machine states that any centronics printer will work so yes the V3 module will be fine - just need to set the bit depth to 7.
