v3.2 Coming Soon

v3.2 of the Software will be released soon which has the following improvements / suggestions:

- Improve line spacing handling (add different measurement for 9 pin dot matrix printers)
- Create /home/pi/data/version.log
- Remove some logging which is not required when not testing the software
- Re-create 1.txt file for when using simple_spool (in case user deletes or moves the file)
- USB Passthrough setting to allow a centronics based HP printer to be replaced by a USB version (no conversion happens unless you want to capture the output at the same time).

It makes sense to hold off on this as a formal release pending feedback on what changes we need to make to the extracted .txt file - http://forum.retroprinter.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29

In the meantime, if you want the updated files to copy directly onto your SD card, please let me know.

Some more improvements in light of customer feedback will be incorporated in this release:

- the simple_spool configuration has been updated as per http://forum.retroprinter.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29
- you can configure the page size (we currently support A4 portrait, A4 landscape, US 12" paper portrait and 12" fanfold paper.
- you can configure whether to use the default top and bottom margins - A4 (top 8.5mm, bottom 13.5mm), 12" paper (top 9mm, bottom 9mm)

Another new configuration option has been added today -

auto_linefeed: whether to convert all CR characters to LF. (just remember that if your computer is sending CR,LF as a line feed, this will produce two line feeds if you set this to Yes!)

We have now also added support for the extended control codes (character codes 128 to 255).
