It seems trying to connect to CUPS is a hit and miss. Yesterday morning it would take 3-4 try's to get to the CUPS website, today I can't even connect, get messages to check firewall or proxy, have shutdown firewall for 10 minutes, and proxy isn't being used. Had this problem 2 years ago. Take care.

It all depends on your connection. Do you have both your pc and the Retro-Printer connected to a router? You can just about manage to connect an ethernet lead from a pc to the Retro-Printer but it keeps dropping out.

Get the IP address for the Retro-Printer and use that instead as that works better with some of routers. There is nothing we can do on the Retro-Printer,/ raspberry pi end.

It might also be an idea to update the operating system and use the latest software version

To update the operating system use
Apt-get update
Apt-get upgrade

Ok, will try doing the updates. I have two Link routers connected. I am going to replace the ethernet cable from the computer the the router, it is pretty old. The short cable from Raspberry Pi to router is fairly new. I have CUPS -2.3.6 install in the "Root" folder with rpi-3.24-32 (was rpi3.19f-32) from 2023. Would it be OK to replace with CUPS 2.4.12. Take care.

Apt-get should automatically update CUPS - I cannot comment on which version of CUPS is best to use

Hi there, as of 7-23-2025 I still haven't been able to connect to https://retro-printer:631/admin/ or the other variation. Had a tech. from my IPS to check the outside and inside cables, modem, evertything was OK. So I posted on the Norton (Norton 360) community, one person couldn't connect either, said the firewall nor the anti-virus was blocking it. Then a couple of days later, he tried Opera GX, same problem, so it must be a problem at the other end.

Di you mean it might be an issue with the raspberry pi operating system?

Oddly I can still connect fine here on both the 64 but and 32 but software, but another customer with the Retro-Printer is also struggling.

I did wonder if it might be related to the lack of a security certificate but if it is showing up on other raspberry pis then it must be down to the operating system

I have found the issue - it seems to be on the 64 bit version of the software, I needed to edit the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf

I enter nano /ect/cups/cupsd.conf....it was blank. I copied and paste the updated CUPS.conf that you posted, ctrl-X, saved. closed SSH. Re-opened SSH, re-entered /ect/cups/cupsd.conf... it was still listed. But I still haven't been able to login into https://retro-printer:631/admin/. Today I tried a windows 10 laptop on wifi, still would get the same messages. I recieved the new Retro-Printer module, but haven't installed it, but I am using the new SD card (not sure if it's 3.22 or 2.33). Was the cupsd.conf suppose to be blank ?. Makes my wonder about the raspberry software on the card. Is the IP address of retro-printer still 192.168.1.12:631 if I remember correctly, this is from two years ago. Take care.
